New Team Captain Role
All.
We are facing a situation where our B team will be playing in Division 2 next season.
This in itself is not a matter of concern due to the fact that recently we have had a number of new players joining the club who are more than capable of playing at this level of chess.
The problem we are facing is that we will need someone to Captain this team during the new season.
Can I therefore ask all 1750 to 1600 rated members to seriously consider if they could take on this role.
The committee will be asking this question at the AGM on Tuesday.
Although the role is not onerous, without a volunteer it will be very difficult to run the team successfully.
All members wishing to participate in the next League competition should attend the AGM as this is where we decide team structures.
Please come with an open mind and hopefully a willingness to take on a role to support your Club, your team and our membership.

Summer Handicap
I am provisionally proposing to hold this year’s Summer handicap from Tuesday 30th June to Tuesday 2nd August. Six weeks in total.
Two 1/2 point byes will be allowed throughout the competition.
If you would like to participate this year please let me know via email before this years AGM and I will add you to the list.
As last year, it will be a 6 round swiss tournament with a game time of 40 minutes plus 40 seconds per move.
The applied handicap being minus 10 seconds per move for the higher rated player gor every 100 rating points difference between players, down to Zero if the difference is 400 rating points.
The winner of the competition will be declared the Club Champion for 2026.

The 2026 Stratford Chess Club AGM will be held on Tuesday, 2nd June at 19.30 at Venture House.

Amongst the agenda items for discussion at the AGM will be the preliminary team/captain selection for the 2026-2027 Leamington League season starting in September.
If you are interested in being included in a team for the following season, please join us at the AGM.
If you are unable to attend the AGM, please let me know in advance and confirm your availability for team selection.
