Welcome to Stratford Chess Club

Whether you want to play just friendly games, take part in club competitions or join one of our teams to play against other chess clubs, the place to be is Venture House, Avenue Farm Industrial Estate, Birmingham Rd, Stratford-upon-Avon CV37 0HR from 19.30 onwards each Tuesday evening.

The club also meets online on chess.com every Thursday at 19.00 for a Swiss style 3 round tournament.

At the LDCL AGM last night, Stratford Chess Club entered 4 teams into the League for the 2026-2027 season.

Div 1: A Team - (4 boards)

Div 2: B Team - (4 boards)

Div 3: C Team - (4 boards)

Div 4: D Team - (3 boards)

For the KO’s, we have entered 1 team in the Open KO, 1 team in the U8750, and 1 team in the U1600.

Summer Handicap

Summer Handicap

I am provisionally proposing to hold this year’s Summer handicap from Tuesday 30th June to Tuesday 2nd August.  Six weeks in total.

 

Two 1/2 point byes will be allowed throughout the competition.

If you would like to participate this year please let me know via email before this years AGM and I will add you to the list.

As last year, it will be a 6 round swiss tournament with a game time of 40 minutes plus 40 seconds per move.

The applied handicap being minus 10 seconds per move for the higher rated player gor every 100 rating points difference between players, down to Zero if the difference is 400 rating points.

The winner of the competition will be declared the Club Champion for 2026.
